The big old yellow building in the town of Trbovlje is known as the highschool. Every 1st September, when the school year begins, almost every teenager feels some anxiety, at least a second before he is about to be eaten by the great door of this building. And then the story starts again, over and over. Piles of books, notebooks, pencils and hours of learning and studying - these are the first associations on a teenager's mind. Not to mention the strict teachers, the grades which sometimes aren't exactly what we wish for and then of course also the dissatisfied parents.
But the reality might be really different... Naturally, success in our school requires a certain level of knowledge, therefore one has to sacrifice some of his free time to study and attending classes is vital, except if you really can't. A good relationship with your teachers is also of great necessity. Once you get to know them (if you ever get the opportunity, of course) you realise they are no less people than you or perhaps your parents are.
So what else do we need to make our school not the monster everybody's frightened of, but a place everyone would find at least bearable, if not also enjoyable from time to time? Simply - a good atmosphere. For one we have a school radio which plays music every main break. And second of all, everyone knows that sometimes just going to your everyday classes is not enough to some people, because they want more. So, for all interested we have different activities in the afternoon, such as a debate club or one can master his computer skills, learn some more about mathematics, physics, chemistry and a lot more... The third thing, also important for creating a good atmosphere, are school trips, which aren't as boring as one would think, but can be really interesting and also fun for everyone, including the teachers, who can finally loosen up a bit.
This mixture of things is bound to bring success. And success in almost every field is something that our highschool can really be proud of. So as we are. Yet we are still eager for more. And this is the other part of being a student at this highschool. Once you get through it, is can be an interesting experience, not likely to be forgotten soon. And if you still don't like it, then you just have to wait for the holidays to begin.
